Etiquette queen hits the big screen!

Hours of elocution lessons as a little girl are being put to good use by a Coleraine woman who is now living in Las Vegas.

Sheila Keast is a certified etiquette trainer, and has been giving her useful advice to FOX TV viewers in America.

The proud Coleraine woman, whose maiden name was Baxter, is the Resident Etiquette Expert on the More Morning Show.

So far she has discussed summer party etiquette, advising viewers what they should and shouldn’t bring to a party. She’s also discussed office etiquette and the use of mobiles phones.

Sheila believes that proper manners boosts overall confidence, and already she’s had a number of success stories. Through her much sought after etiquette classes, she focuses on the principles of etiquette and how you apply them to the real world - helping children, teens and business professionals better prepare for the challenges and opportunities that they encounter each and every day.

Speaking from her home in Las Vegas last week, Sheila, who grew up in the Heights area of Coleraine, explained how her slot on the popular morning programme came about: “I started doing TV appearances for FOX 5 KVVU in January. I thought it would be a one time thing but they liked me, and asked me back to do a Valentine’s segment. I’m on about once a month, although sometimes we might do a three day segment especially around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

“I really love it and though I was nervous the first time I did it, now it’s just fun to go on live television and talk about Etiquette.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be doing this, but if I can make a difference in a person’s life by teaching them new life skills then I’m happy.

“I also donate a lot of free time to underprivileged children in local schools.

“Its wonderful to see the changes in the these young people - even just in the way that they hold themselves, and how much self confidence they have.”
