EURO 2016: Norn Iron win sends me and the GAWA buck daft

Dare to dream has been Northern Ireland's motto for Euro 2016 but did any fan really dream it would get so good?

A stunning 2-0 win against Ukraine has left them just a point from almost certain qualification to the next round.

I, like most members of the GAWA went buck daft after cracking goals from Gareth McAuley and Niall McGinn gave us a deserved victory.

Few would have cheered louder than me because now the Germany game, which I head off to on Tuesday- could become the most significant NI game in decades.

Due to a baby arriving, one match was all that was available, should I go to the first game? The second game or what was probably going to be our last game.

When the draw was made, the glamour tie against four times and current world champions in Paris was hard to resist.

After a disappointing defeat against Poland on Sunday, the Green and White army were staring at being the first team eliminated from the Euros- if they lost to Ukraine.

A worrying thought, my trip to the Euros was to watch nothing more than a glorified friendly? Of course the atmosphere would be amazing- it always is with the GAWA involved but now with O’Neill’s boys on the brink of qualification that decision looks inspired.

Now thousands of Northern Ireland fans (as the London NISC song goes) will be making their way to Paris.

Some sunburnt from a week on the French Rivera- some almost bursting with excitement (like me) at wanting to finally sample the atmosphere, once again daring to dream.

Bring on the Germans!
