“He is in great demand, speaking all over Europe. His preaching is simple, clear and powerful. We hope many people will be able to attend and benefit from his teaching.”

The theme of the series is “How on earth can you believe all that?” He will address the following themes: God and the Richard Dawkins Generation (Wed 6); Genuine Christianity - or counterfeit? (Thur 7); A wicked man in heaven (Fri 8). Each meeting will commence at 8pm.

Stuart Olyott travels widely, speaking to people about the Good News of Jesus Christ. Before his “semi-retirement” at the end of 2007, he was Pastoral Director of the Evangelical Movement of Wales and lectured in preaching at the Evangelical Theological College of Wales, Bridgend.

He has also pastored churches in London, Liverpool, and Lausanne. He is a regular speaker at conferences such as the Carey Conference, the Evangelical Movement of Wales Conference at Aberystwyth and Banner of Truth ministers’ conference in Leicester.

Speaker - Stuart Olyott

He became pastor of Belvidere Road Church in Liverpool after training at London Bible College and receiving his first degree from the University of London. The Liverpool pastorates occupied the periods 1967 to 1982 and 1991 to 1999.

The intervening years were spent preaching the gospel in French in Lausanne, Switzerland, and pioneering new churches in both France and Switzerland.

Preaching both expository and topical material from within the Reformed tradition, Stuart Olyott displays a consistently high standard of clarity and power. His sermons are so well prepared that the structure is easily followed.

There has been a steady demand for recordings of his sermons. Letters received by the church during and after his pastorates often came from people who had never met him. Some of them lived outside the UK.

Inevitably he has been invited to address meetings and ministers' conferences both within Britain and abroad. Since 1970 he has preached and lectured in twelve countries besides his own.

He has written a steady flow of articles on doctrinal questions and aspects of preaching and pastoral theology. These now total over one hundred in various magazines.

His nine major books are models of presentational clarity. Some are Bible commentaries; others cover doctrinal themes; all are edifying and very readable.

He has also translated Calvin's Breve Instruction Chretienne into English as Truth for all Time (Banner of Truth. 1998). This brief outline of the Christian faith was first published in French in 1537. Stuart Olyott did the universal church a notable service by this work.

For any achievement Stuart Olyott would be the first to insist that the triune God must receive ALL the glory.
