Evelyne is president of NILGA

NEWLY appointed President of the Local Government Association (NILGA), Councillor Evelyne Robinson, thanked Councillor John Mathews at NILGAs AGM, for his valued support and guidance as Cllr Mathews steps down from the NILGA Executive.

Cllr Robinson, DUP from Ballymoney Borough Council, has been a strong advocate of NILGA and is currently a member of a number of working groups in the interests of local government.

Congratulated by her supporting office bearers, each party thanked Cllr Matthews and welcomed Cllr Robinson in her new role.

Cllr Robinson told the Times: “I’m very honoured to be chosen.

“Obviously it is a time when local government need to seek a way forward.

“We will be looking for improvements in council serves and greater collaboration with other councils.”
