Evening of pampering at SERC

IT was an evening of pampering and socialising at South Eastern Regional College (SERC), as Level Three Beauty Therapy students recently got the opportunity to organise their own promotional event as part of their studies.

The students experienced first-hand how the skills they are learning now, will be used in practice in the future, while guests had the opportunity to tour the excellent beauty training facilities and commercial salon.

To showcase the high level of skill developed by studying at the College, guests were also treated to a range of treatments including nail painting, mini facials, back massage and Indian head massages.

Commenting on the evening Lisa McCormick Baxter, Beauty Therapy Coordinator for SERC said: “The students used their module ‘Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities’ as an opportunity to showcase the excellent facilities that the SERC Beauty Therapy department has to offer.

“The organising of such an important event also helps build confidence within the students and gives them practical experience for future beauty events they may have to organise.

“The students organised the treatment rota and took control of the whole evening. As their lecturer I was very proud of their professionalism and the hard work they put into making the evening so successful.”

Stephanie Downey, Beauty Therapy student commented on how she enjoyed the event: “The planning of the event has allowed us to work as a team to organise something we enjoy. We have learnt a range of new skills including communication, organisation and how to work to deadlines – it was an excellent part of the course.”

The College’s very own commercial hair and beauty salon, Revive is open to the public. To make an appointment please call 028 9262 6797.
