Event in memory of Stephen raises hundreds for Lighthouse

A charity night in memory of a young Carrick man has raised hundreds of pounds towards suicide awareness charity Lighthouse.

The fundraiser on May 31 was organised by the family of Stephen Donohoe, who tragically took his own life earlier this year in Darwin, Australia.

Organised by members of Stephen’s family, the event at Knockagh Lodge had the dual purpose of raising funds and awareness while also acting as a tribute to the 30-year-old.

“The night was a great success and we managed to raise a grand total of £1125,” said Stephen’s mother, Sharon Donohoe.

“Those who attended have said they thoroughly enjoyed the night the DJs played the requests of the guests. My brother Ricky read out a beautiful tribute to Stephen to which there were tears and laughter. Lauren, Stephen’s sister played a video she made personally about Stephen which people stood and applauded her for.

“Once again, I can’t thank the local businesses enough who contributed for the raffle and a big special thank you to [DJs] Aaron Elliot, William Mogey and Ashley MacNeice.”
