Event to raise funds for Magherafelt man Francis Stewart injured in accident

A fund raising event is being organised for the popular Magherafelt running coach Francis Stewart who was seriously injured in an accident.

The Magherafelt Harriers, of which Francis was a key member and running coach, are hosting the event on October 17.

Francis who had been cycling was knocked down and seriously injured on the Cookstown to Moneymore dual carriageway at the end of June.

In the weeks since, he has continued to make significant recovery and it is understood that he is awaiting transfer to a rehabilitation unit.

In a statement on their Facebook page the Magherafelt Harriers said: “We appeal to the running fraternity , local sports clubs and anyone who knows Francis to support this event and help raise funds for this very worthy cause.”

The event will start on October 17, at 11am from the Rainey Old Boys clubhouse in Magherafelt.
