Events help to discover Larne's winter wildlife

NATURE lovers are invited to take a walk on the wild side over the next week and discover what the borough has to offer.

Two events, organised by Larne council, are taking place over the next few weeks to showcase the local wildlife.

On Sunday, residents can learn about the birds that visit Larne Lough in the winter months. Taking place between 1pm and 3pm at Glynn train station, people will have the chance to watch 200 brent geese that have travelled all the way from Canada.

Telescopes will be set up for people to get a closer look at the geese, and bird expert Clive Mellon will be on hand to provide information.

Anyone interested in taking part in the free event is asked to park in the lane opposite the entrance to the station. Tea will also be provided.

Then, on Thursday, january 21 from 7.30pm at the Tourist Information Centre, residents have an opportunity to watch a fascinating one hour film on local wildlife.

The film was shot by wildlife enthusiast, Cameron Moore, who is an expert in catching all sorts of animals on camera when they least expect it. Admission is free and tea and biscuits will be provided.
