Evish Primary School to close
Education Minister John O'Dowd has approved the closure of Evish Primary School in Strabane.
In a statement today, Wednesday, he said: “Evish Primary School has provided an excellent education to children from the local community. However over the years the school has suffered from declining enrolments and financial difficulties.
“Having considered all the relevant information, I have decided to approve the proposal to close Evish Primary School, with effect from August 31, 2016. Other local alternative provision will ensure that the children have the opportunity to mix with a wider range of peers and will enhance their learning experience.”
The Minister paid tribute to everyone connected with Evish Primary School whom, he said, over the years, had shown commitment and dedication to the school and its pupils.
