Ewing
delighted to be elected Deputy Mayor

The newly elected Deputy Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Andrew Ewing, has said he is thrilled to be elevated to the prestigious position.

The post of Deputy Mayor now puts Mr Ewing, one of the youngest member of Lisburn City Council, in the running to be the final ever Mayor of Lisburn City Council before it amalgamates with Castlereagh Borough Council in 2015.

“It is an honour and a privilege to be elected to the position of Deputy Mayor of Lisburn,” said Mr Ewing. “I would like to thank my party colleagues for their support and encouragement.

“Lisburn is a great city with great people and I am looking forward to the year ahead with the anticipation of meeting friends, new and old alike.

“I would like to pay tribute to the outgoing Mayor, William Leathem, who did an outstanding job as Mayor, with over 1,000 engagements during his year.

“I would also like to wish my party colleague Margaret Tolerton all the best in her year ahead as Mayor,” he added.
