Exam results celebrations at Lisburn schools

And, on the whole, the news was good for most A-Level students at Lisburn’s main schools.

The principal of Lisnagarvey High School, Mr Jim Sheerin, said: “On behalf of the governors I would like to thank the staff who supported and encouraged students through to these excellent results.

“We work in close partnership with parents and I am so proud of the each and every student who worked hard and have now been rewarded by their wonderful achievements.”

At Wallace High School, principal Mrs Deborah O’Hare thanked the staff for their dedication and expertise and congratulated the students on their success.

“Following on from last year’s highest ever % of students achieving 3 or more A Level grades at A*, B or C, the school is celebrating another slight increase in this figure.

“Over 90% of the grades achieved were at A*, A, B or C with an impressive 30 students achieving 3 or more straight A or A* grades. The three students with offers for Cambridge met their requirements easily: Chloe Carson, Rachel McGrath and Chris Robinson.”

Students at Laurelhill are also celebrating as the success rate at grades A* to C improves significantly once again.

Principal Mr James Martin said: “The College entered pupils in more than fifteen A level or equivalent courses, thirteen out the fifteen had a one hundred per cent pass rate.

“Two pupils achieved A star grades in Art and Design and Design and Technology.

“Today is all about celebrating the hard work, commitment and achievement of our young people at Laurelhill. The College congratulates all students on their outstanding performance and wishes them well for the future.”

Elizabeth Dickson, Principal of Friends’, said that there was a shared sense of pleasure in the success pupils had enjoyed at A level. Again this year, the overall performance at A level had been very strong and Mrs Dickson said that pupils could be justifiably proud of the high standards that they had upheld. Members of staff joined in congratulating pupils on their success and in wishing them well for the future.

There were also celebrations at St Patrick’s Academy and Fort Hill Integrated College when pupils collected their results this week.

St Patrick’s Principal Dr Seamus Quinn added: “The Governors and staff of St Patrick’s Academy are delighted at the A level results achieved by our pupils this year. Once again all of our pupils have achieved outstanding results in their A levels and are progressing to their chosen courses. These results demonstrate how an individualised approach to guiding our pupils achieves results for all. The Academy looks forward to next week’s GCSE results and a new cohort of post 16 students who will be challenged to sustain the Academic success of our school.”
