EXAM RESULTS: Pupils celebrate A-Level success at Friends'

Principal of Friends' Stephen Moore congratulated pupils on the success they had enjoyed at A-Level and said that everyone in School joined them in celebrating what they had achieved.

The overall performance at A level had once again been strong and Mr Moore said that pupils and their parents could be proud of the high standards that had been achieved.

He said: “The overall number of A*s and A grades had risen this year at A level; a total of 9 pupils gained three or more A* grades and 40 pupils achieved 3 or more grades at A*/A.

“John Dawson gained a remarkable 6 A* grades and will go up to Cambridge to read Mathematics, where he will be joined by Emma Rutter and Daniel Magennis (3 A*s), who will be reading Modern Languages.

“Jill Holley also gained three A*s and is taking up a place at Oxford to read History alongside Jenny Kirkpatrick who, with 2 A*s and one A, will be reading Arabic.”

At AS level, some 35 pupils gained at least 3 A grades; of these 20 were awarded four or more A grades, with Alexandra Hunter and Jinkun Zhong both achieving 5 As.

Mr Moore said that behind these headline figures there were many more individual success stories and that it would not be possible to mention them all.

He added that he would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the pupils every success in the future and to thank staff who have worked so hard to make this possible.
