Posting on Facebook, the Rowan Tree Centre said: “We need your help. Pomeroy Development Projects Ltd are currently applying for funding to redevelop the old Pomeroy Forestry School which has been derelict for over 10 yrs into a shared space for the whole community - young and old.

“Tell us what you think this would look like? What is needed in the area? What would you like to see happening in it eg in 5 years time? How would the building and surrounding area be used?

Local councillor and Chair of the Mid Ulster Council expressed his excitement and called on people to have their say.

“It is anticipated id successful the building would have a mixed use for sports, the arts and community services as well as social enterprise. However success will only happen if all the community take part in our consultation and share their aspirations for Pomeroy Forest.

“The old Forest School can be a genuine shared space for the benefit of everyone in Pomeroy and the wider community,” the councillor added.
