Executive vows to clean up footpath

SOUTH Antrim MP William McCrea has welcomed a commitment from the Housing Executive to improve the condition of the footpath at Carn Green in New Mossley.

The DUP man met with Housing Executive officials in the estate recently to discuss residents’ concerns about the state of the often flooded path.

“It is simply unfair to expect local residents, including schoolchildren, to walk through water during rainfall and the dirty surface certainly requires clean-up action. I have now received confirmation from the Housing Executive that, as an interim measure, the path will be cleaned up and the silt removed from the drainage channel, with a view to discussing further proposals that will hopefully provide a long-term solution.

“This news will certainly be welcomed by the local community who use this path on a daily basis; and I trust that with the proper approach the problem can now be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction,” Dr McCrea commented.
