Exhibition is in full flight

A NEW exhibition ‘Elementals Birds’ is flying in to Lisburn and landing at R-space Gallery in Castle Street.

Involving a unique collaboration between International and Northern Irish artists, the show features over 50 artists working in every medium; including sculpture, music and print.

Exhibition originators, Inga and Andy Hamilton, have just returned from the Richard F. Brush Gallery at St. Lawrence University in Canton, where the inaugural exhibition they organised last autumn took place to great acclaim.

Artist and organiser, Inga, described the previous show. “There were two large galleries, filled with bird artwork, fluttering into people’s hearts and affections,” she said. “Professors on their way to work changed their daily routine to take in the tranquillity emanating from the tiny sculptures, whilst local people found wonder and comfort alike in small bird sculptures appearing overnight in public spaces.”

Andy added: “We value all the artwork and contributions to this exhibition so much. Each piece attempts to physically embody feelings of goodwill, peace and harmony.”

Elementals Birds runs from March 16 until April 28 at R-Space Gallery, 32 Castle Street, Lisburn which is open from Wednesday-Saturday 11am-5pm.

There is a gallery talk by the artists on Saturday April 14 at 2pm.

This event is free. For more details and an invite to the private view on Thursday March 15 from 6-9pm, contact gallery director Robert Martin on 028 92663179 or 07702293191.
