Exorna WI inspired by The Calendar Girls!

EXORNA Women's Institute members have been given an insight into one of the more challenging methods of charity fundraising.

The group, led by president, Mrs Jean Sherrard, recently visited the Grand Opera House in Belfast to watch the production ‘The Calendar Girls’.

No strangers to fundraising themselves, the Exorna members were delighted to learn that ‘The Calendar Girls’ phenomenon has raised over 2 million for Leukemia and Lymphoma Research, since the idea was launched a decade ago.

Indeed, with the continuing battle to raise money for needy causes still fresh in their memories, Exorna members were reminded about a forthcoming charity event nearer home.

An ‘Open Day’ to be hosted by Mrs Joan Christie OBE, at her home Ballybogey House on Tuesday, August 3.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Macmillan Palliative Care in Antrim Hospital.
