Experience '˜Park Life' this summer

Lisburn and Castlereagh Council has revealed its '˜Park Life' programme for the summer that will take in a series of events at Lisburn's Wallace Park.

From Saturday July 2 until Sunday August 21, the park will play host to a wide range of family fun days during Saturdays and Sundays.

This year’s Park Life programme is packed with events to suit all ages and range from a Vintage Tea Dance to a Flower and Animal Fun Day and includes a Teddy Bears Picnic, a Drama Performance to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday, a ‘Pirates and Princesses’ play and a Mini Mela.

The Mayor, Councillor Brian Bloomfield, said he hoped as many people as possible will support and enjoy the events.

Speaking at the launch, he said: “Wallace Park is in a central location that offers excellent facilities for residents of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area.

“What better way for our residents to enjoy the summer sunshine than to come along to Park Life during July and August?

“There is much talk about holidaying at home these days and with so many wonderful events for all the family planned in Wallace Park, right on our doorstep, it is gearing up for a super Summer in Lisburn.”

Councillor Tim Morrow, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee added: “It is fantastic news that this year the Council has secured a summer programme for Wallace Park.

“It is hoped that the Park Life programme this year will be bigger and better than ever.

“The council likes to see its parks being enjoyed by visitors and residents and it is hoped that these shared spaces will be enjoyed by all local communities during the course of the events.

“I would encourage people to get a copy of the Park Life brochure and find out what is on over the summertime.

“Park Life offers something for all the family, from young to old.

“We’ve arranged pantomimes, superhero characters, teddy bears picnics, a mini sports festival, and a Pirates and Princess Play day, as well as live performances from silver, flute, pipe and brass bands within the park.

“The list just goes on and on,” said Councillor Morrow.

All events are free and open to the public.
