Experts toguide NW farmers

With farmers faced with so many decisions these days, be that modernisation, mentoring, benchmarking and so on, it can be difficult to know what to do for the best.

So on Thursday, September 27, a special information session will be held at 8pm in Floyd’s of Ballymagorry so that farmers can learn more about what is available and what is likely to change under Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform.

Secretary of the Ballylaw Farmers Group, Andrew Dunne, said: “We find we have so much information to get through at times, so an event like this is a great way to learn exactly what is happening as well as meeting other farmers, sharing problems and finding out the best way to deal with problems.”

Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) adviser, John Moore, and Countryside Agri-Rural Partnership’s Alex Cromie will be attending the event to give farmers the lead in what they can do to take advantage of current and future opportunities.

Information will be available on CAP reform, Farm Modernisation and the supports available to farm families through Countryside Agri Rural Services and the Rural Development Programme.
