Exploring the Kilrea-Zomba link

PRIMARY school children from Kilrea have been working together to learn about Coleraine's civic link with Zomba.

Children from St Columba’s and Kilrea primary schools, have been using the internet to compare life in Kilrea with that in Zomba.

The two schools used the internet to look at the photographs, and then shared their observations online in a Learning NI discussion forum.

Linda Steele, a teacher from Kilrea PS said: “It has been very useful for the pupils from Kilrea Primary School, to compare notes with St Columba’s.

“The children were very enthusiastic about working together, and excited about how easily they could use the computer to find out about far away places.”

The Kilrea schools have also given practical help to their counterparts in Malawi.

Through the Zomba Action Project, they provided basic supplies like paper, pencils, books and even toilets to the people of Malawi.
