Extension plan for Iveagh House

Iveagh House Nursing Home on the Castlewellan Road is planning an extension to accommodate an additional 20 residents with associated day and dining room facilities which will increase the capacity of the home to fifty three residents.

The management held a Community Consultation day on Saturday afternoon where they invited neighbouring residents and local political representatives to view the initial plans.

Commenting local MLA Jo-Anne Dobson said: “I very much welcome the fact that the home management has involved their near neighbours in their plans at this early stage and welcomed the opportunity to come along and see the initial proposals.

“I encourage anyone who wishes to view the plans and to make comment on them to contact the planning consultant.”

Upper Bann MLA Carla Lockhart also attended the meeting and said: “This is great news for Banbridge particularly when surrounding areas are witnessing the closure of homes. With an ageing population it is vital that we future proof our services.”

Also there to view the plans was local councillor Junior McCrum, who added: “I believe this is a good sound project and one that I most certainly will be supporting going forward. I look forward to seeing this come to fruition.”
