Mr Kennedy said: “This major extension supports the ever increasing number of people choosing to use public transport in Northern Ireland.

“This extended site, provided by Translink, offer safe and convenient car parking with direct access to rail and bus services.

“I am confident this scheme will encourage more people to try public transport especially at the busiest times of the day.”

The new facility is an important element of the Department’s commitment to promote more sustainable travel, by offering commuters an alternative for their journey.

Jane Kerr, Translink Service Delivery Manager said: “We are very pleased to offer this enhanced extended facility for our customers.

“Its timely completion now makes it even easier for our customers to interchange between the car and the train, bus or coach.

“In addition there are regular coach services to both Coleraine and Antrim Hospitals. Now with this new facility we hope we can attract even more people on board”.
