Extra rail service on Coleraine to Londonderry line

TRANSPORT Minister, Danny Kennedy, has announced that an extra train service will operate between Coleraine and Londonderry starting on 6 January 2014.

Minister Kennedy said: “Translink have identified an opportunity to further enhance the train service during the evening peak Mondays to Fridays. This additional train offers passengers even more flexibility for those who commute in both directions.

““With around 7,000 people already using this section of the line every week, this new service will make this route even more attractive to use for North West commuters. I know this will be widely welcomed by all those passengers who use this important service.”

The additional train service will leave Londonderry at 16.13, then Castlerock at 16.52 and arrive in Coleraine at 17.01. The return service will leave Coleraine at 17.55, then Castlerock at 18.08 and will arrive in Londonderry at 18.42. As a result the number of trains operating on the Coleraine to Londonderry will increase from 59 each way per week to 64 each way per week. The additional bus service from Coleraine to Waterside Station from 17.45 to 18.45 will be withdrawn.
