Facelift for hall in Glengormley

Plans were announced for improvement works to be carried out at the Barron Hall in January 1988.

The facelift was to be carried out on the Glengormley hall with help from a council grant.

The trustees of the hall applied to the council for financial assistance towards improvements and repairs.

Councillors were told that proposals for community use of the hall on the Antrim Road were extensive and the request would qualify for a grant under the council’s community development policy.

Ald Billy Green proposed that grant aid be given, subject to the submission of detailed plans and estimates and the approval of the Department of Education.

This was seconded by Cllr Billy McDonnell and agreed.
