Facelift for properties

CONTRACTORS are currently carrying out external maintenance work on 218 Housing Executive properties in Larne's rural areas and in Craigyhill.

Elizabeth Martin, district manager, is pleased to see the scheme progressing.

“With the impact of the economic recession and downturn in capital receipts the Housing Executive has had to scale back its work programmes, so I am pleased that this important work at Larne homes has been able to proceed,” she said.

“Planned maintenance is designed to take care of the external elements of tenants’ homes, including repairing or replacing windows and woodwork and repainting, and so gives a facelift to the area as well as benefiting individual homes.

“The Housing Executive through its Rural Strategy is committed to supporting and safeguarding local rural communities and the fact that over 100 of the homes included in this 465k contract are located in Islandmagee, Ballycarry, Magheramorne and Glenoe, demonstrates that this is the case in Larne.

“As an Egan contractor, Dixons Contractors work in partnership with the Housing Executive and its tenants to ensure that work runs smoothly and is to a high standard. This approach has been borne out by residents whose homes have already been completed in the scheme and I hope that this will continue to be the case,” the district manager added.
