Failure to grow demand for HE places

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry explained there were currently no higher education places at the Strabane campus.

The Minister explained: “There are currently no higher education places at the Strabane Campus of North West Regional College.

“The College has attempted, without success, to grow demand for part-time higher education at the campus before considering an allocation of full-time places.

“It is the responsibility of each individual college to manage its higher education funding allocations in line with local priorities, as well as the priorities set by my Department.

“However, decisions relating to the management of courses and the allocation of student places across the college’s campuses are matters for the senior management of the regional college and not for my Department.”
