The Eco-Schools programme runs in 60 countries around the world, with Australia and Switzerland the newest members. It is the world’s largest environmental education programme, with over 15 million pupils engaged globally.

Northern Ireland began taking part in the programme in 1994 when it was first launched. It is organised here by the environmental charity ‘Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’ and receives support from the Department of the Environment.

Environment Minister, Mark H Durkan praised the good work being carried out at Fairview.
