The Faith & Politics Institute, a Washington DC non profit organisation, will be in First Derry Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April, at for a public meeting beginning at 4.30pm.

Congressman John Lewis, an architect of and keynote speaker at the historic march on

Washington in August 1963 with Dr ML King, will be the special speaker at the event designed to offer the Americans with an overview of peace building in the Maiden City. Presentations will also be made by representatives from Theatre of Witness, Children in Crossfire and the PSNI.

“A very special dimension to this event will be the participation by representatives of schools and colleges currently involved in the Pathway to Peace Initiative being developed by myself, in partnership with the Western Education and Library Board,” Rev Dr David Latimer said, adding: “The views of children and young people are so important. Their creative ideas and fresh perspectives can help transform the jangling discords within our country into a symphony of brotherhood.”

The Mayor, American Consulate General, WELB Childrens Officer, John and Pat Hume and staff and students from a dozen schools, will also be in attendance.

A public event, open to all demonimations, it will end with a walk along the walls to the Peace Flame, the Peace Bridge and the Guildhall.
