Family carer day in Cookstown Leisure Centre

The Northern Health and Social Care Trust has organised an activity and information day for family carers in the wider Cookstown area.

The event is taking place from 10.30 am – 2pm on Wednesday September 24 in Cookstown Leisure Centre and is open to anyone who cares for a family member who due to illness, frailty or disability is unable to look after themselves.

During the event participants will be able to attend workshops on benefits advice, laughter yoga, armchair aerobics, healthy eating, personal care and information on legal and financial issues for family carers. Lunch will be provided and free transport is available from Maghera, Magherafelt and Draperstown areas.

Anne Cummings, Carers Co-ordintator, with the Northern Trust said: “Caring for a loved one can sometimes be stressful and family carers often need support and information. This is a great opportunity for participants to meet with other family carers in the Cookstown area”.
