"I haven't seen him since he left that day for his bus, he walked down the street and now that's it, I just want to know he's ok," she added.

Mr McCall has not been seen since travelling from Claudy to his job at B & Q DIY store on Londonderry's Buncrana Road.

The last reported sighting of Mr McCall was at Foyle Street bus station. The missing man is described as being about 5ft 11inches tall and of a thin build.

He has short, blond hair and when last seen was wearing black work clothes and a black coat with a black fleece underneath it. He was sheltering underneath a black umbrella.

Claudy based SDLP councillor Brenda Stevenson has been in close contact with the missing man's family. She said his family were deeply upset by his disappearance.

"He started his day just the same as any other and his disappearance is very unusual. His parents are asking anyone with any knowledge of his whereabouts to contact the PSNI immediately," she said.

The PSNI in Londonderry have carried out a number of searches on the ground and by helicopter. They are asking people who were in the city centre to try and recall seeing Mr McCall walking or getting a lift. The number to call with any information is 08456008000.
