Lee Baker says his brother Ty McGuire remains in a critical condition at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital in an induced coma.

Mr Baker said his 31-year-old brother, who was shot in the living room of his Carrigart Crescent home, said the entire family are heartbroken.

The father of two was injured when a volley of around 20 shots were fired at his home in the early hours of Monday morning (February 13).

Speaking this morning Lee said: “It doesn’t look good. They (doctors) are saying he is not going to pull through this.”

Lee said the family are heartbroken.

He described his brother as a ‘funny guy’.

“He is so easy to get on with. He is very friendly and would help anyone. He is so kind and so many people love him.

“He is a big softie and he loves Arsenal,” said Lee.

Ty’s family have been greatly comforted by all the messages of comfort and support they have received over the past week and a half.

Police have said that the car found burnt out just over a mile from the scene of the shooting at Carrigart Crescent, was stolen in Dublin in December.

It has been linked by police to a ‘crime gang’.

The police are liaising with the Gardai.

Last week Detective Inspector Stephen Harvey from the PSNI’s reactive and Organised Crime Branch said: “We are working to establish a motive for the attack and I would ask anyone with any information about the incident itself or any ongoing issues in the area to contact detectives in Lurgan on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 64 of 13/02/17. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
