Family History Society thanks Dublin author for '˜generous gift'

Stuart, who gave a talk at Mossley Mill and presented a copy of his book ‘Heritage: The A-Z DNA of Belfast & Northern Irish Jewry’ to the Family History Society, was accompanied by his wife Beverly.

Now living in Dublin, Stuart Rosenblatt was born in Belfast and lived in the shadows of Cave Hill as a young child. He has researched the Jewish families of Ireland for 20 years and has produced many volumes of their family histories.

During his visit, he was given a tour of the society’s Research Centre and Library, which is located at the Valley Business Centre, Church Road. During his time there, he found several pieces of new information to add to his database of over 55,000 Jewish people who had connections with Ireland, and he hopes to return to do more research.

His talk on Irish Jewry, held in the Flax Gallery, was attended by several guests, including Mayor Thomas Hogg and Deputy Mayor John Blair.

Society president, Rosemary Sibbett, thanked Stuart for his very generous gift and also for an informative and entertaining talk. She said that his book “will be a marvellous addition to our library.”
