Family of little Charlie Craig ask for continued prayers

The family of little Charlie Craig, who underwent a bone marrow transplant last month are asking people to continue to pray for their little boy.

Three year-old Charlie has been battling Acute Myeloid Leukaemia since January 2013 and is currently in Bristol, after undergoing a bone marrow transplant after a successful part donor was found on the global register.

Charlie was discharged from Bristol Children’s Hospital on June 12, but has to remain in Bristol for observation.

He is currently in what is known as ‘recovery phase’ and his parents, Cliodhna and Fintan were informed that he would be in this phase for the next six months to a year.

His family have asked the public to continue to pray for Charlie as the latest test results have shown that not enough of the donor’s cells are registering.

They said: “We need you all to pray even harder over the next while. Things were roughly on track until the latest test shows not enough of donor cells registering. Could be too much of one of the drugs or could be it’s not engrafting properly. Please pray they can turn it around and all will be well. Thanks.”

Earlier this year, over 1,000 people turned out in Cookstown and Belfast to register as bone marrow donors inspired by brave Charlie.
