Sarah Elwood praised Kingsway Private Nursing Home for the “absolutely amazing” treatment her father, Thomas Logan Gordon, was given during his final days.

Mr Gordon (83) passed away on June 13 this year - just months after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. After a stay in Lagan Valley Hospital, he transferred to Kingsway Nursing Home on May 12.

“He was in the home just over four weeks and he absolutely loved it,” Mrs Elwood said. “He couldn’t have got better care and attention. The staff were absolutely amazing. The way he was treated and the way we were treated was exceptional - you wouldn’t have got better anywhere.”

Kingsway Private Nursing Home was criticised by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority last year following a string of damning inspection reports. But Mrs Elwood, speaking on behalf of herself, her siblings James, Renee, David and Joanne, and the wider family circle, added: “It got an awful lot of bad publicity last year, but we just want people to know that it’s not like that all the time. The care and attention my dad got was absolutely incredible.”
