FAMILY'S NIGHTMARE AT HANDS OF TEENAGE THUGS

A CARNMONEY man has spoken of his family's ongoing nightmare at the hands of a gang of teenage yobs who have subjected them to a persistent campaign of abuse, threats and vandalism.

The angry resident told the Times this week how their Carnhill home has been under attack for several months, revealing how the gang has set fire to their property, wrecked their car and even threatened to kill them.

The man and his wife, who have two children and didn't want to be named for fear of being victimised further, say that they're at their wits end. Indeed, the man fears that he could be at risk of losing his job because he has had to take so much time off to be at home with his terrified family.

"They set fire to the bushes at the front of the house and they told us that they were going to burn our house to the ground, with or without us in it," he explained.

"They've threatened us with loyalist paramilitaries, told my son they'd put a bullet in his head and put a beer bottle through the windscreen of my car. It's been an absolute and complete nightmare."

The couple stressed that they are not the only residents in the area whose lives are being made a misery by the gang. Indeed, they were among a crowd of more than 50 people who live in Carnhill, Carnvue, Greenacres, The Cairn and other surrounding areas who attended a recent public meeting in Mossley Mill to demand tougher police action to deal with the teenage thugs who have been terrorising local householders.
