Family’s thanks after football tournament

The toddler recently underwent major reconstructive surgery on his skull for a condition called Rightsided Uni-coronial Synistosis. This surgery could not be performed in Northern Ireland and his parents, David and Jenny, had to travel to Oxford in England.

A charity, Ronald McDonald House, provided free accommodation for his parents in the hospital building for a week and the family arranged the tournament to raise funds to thank them. A grand total of over £2,000 was raised.

His mum, Jenny, said, “We wish to thank all those who have kindly supported us in our effort to raise funds for our chosen charities, including all the local businesses who generously donated gifts for our prizes.

“We also wish to thank our main sponsors, the Beautiful Game, Nike Factory Outlet and Shoefair Sports.

“Thank you to all the teams that entered our football tournament, spectators for turning out to watch and at times, in doing so, braving the weather. A thank you also goes out to all who donated money.

“In patricular we wish to thank Rathfriland Football Club for permitting us to use their facilities throughout the week; the referees - Wayne Gibson, Trevor Adams, David Davenport and Stuart Rouland are also in our gratidude.

“Our good friend Adrian Megaw for organising the circut training night in aid of our charity also deserves a mention.

“Last but not least we wish to thank our close friends and family for their support through out these weeks of fundraising. Without all this help we would not have been able to raise the money that we have raised.

“Presently our total stands at £2,107.76 with further donations expected. We plan on holding a quiz in the Autumn so watch this space.”
