Family’s thanks for fund donations

THE family of Stuart Wilson have thanked the community for their support for the fund set up in his memory.

Stuart, 6, died as he was being towed on a wakeboard when he was hit by a boat at a beach near Kilkeel.

He and his family had been staying at a nearby caravan park before the accident, which happened on Monday, August 30.

Stuart suffered serious head injuries and died at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast the following Thursday afternoon.

The community in Rathfriland – as well as at the Kilkeel caravan park – were plunged into shock by the accident at the beauty spot.

In a statement the Wilson family Gary, Heather, son Gareth and daughters Ashleen and Hannah, said they would like to express their thanks, to those who gave donations in lieu of flowers in memory of their son and brother Stuart.

“They would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the entire local and wider community, for their support, kindness and overwhelming generosity, in giving financially, and also to those who organised events in aid of The Stuart Wilson Memorial Fund,” it read.
