FAMILY'S TRIBUTE TO CRASH VICTIM

THE sister of a man tragically killed in a road accident at the weekend has said her family is devastated at the loss of the "best brother, son and uncle."

Michelle McCutcheon spoke to the Leader following the death of her youngest brother Cecil on the Katesbridge Road on Saturday afternoon.

The 28-year-old labourer, who had been driving with his friend David Ward when his car left the road and hit a telegraph pole, died at the scene.

Tributes have been flowing in for the popular young man who will be buried at the New Cemetery in Banbridge this afternoon (Tuesday).

Speaking from the family home in Ballyroney Michelle said the family are in a state of shock following Cecil's sudden death.

"We are all hurt, it was just so quick," she said.

"Cecil was the kindest loving person you would ever have known. He didn't come across that way but he was a gentle giant. He had a heart of gold and would not have seen anyone in trouble.

"No-one could have asked for anyone better and we will never get over him."

The Ballyroney man, who leaves behind his parents Myrtle and Cecil (Senior) and three older sisters, was a car enthusiast, according to Michelle.

"He loved his cars," she said. "They were his life. He loved the Mk 2 Escorts. Anyone who knows him would know that. His pride and joy was his Ford Sierra Cosworth. He loved that car with a passion.

"He lost his best friend in a car accident 11 years ago and I don't think he ever got over it but they're together now looking after each other."

Many people have expressed their sympathies on social networking site Facebook for the McCutcheon family, saying Cecil will be sadly missed.

Cecil's funeral will leave his home at 79 Katesbridge Road, Ballyroney at 2pm today for a service in Drumgooland Parish Church in Ballyward at 2.30pm.
