The Giant’s Causeway was chosen as a filming destination for Universal Pictures’ “Dracula” and actors and crew jetted in.

Luke Evans - who also appears in The Hobbit - plays the main character, Vlad, and he was present in north Antrim. The Causeway will feature in the opening scenes of the movie when Vlad and his band of adventurers find Turkish armour scattered at the base of a mountain.

Dracula is one of the most famous ever horror movies and film chiefs will be hoping that people brought up on a diet of Christopher Lee as a scary vampire will flock to see the new movie.

Meanwhile, ‘Game of Thrones’ is due to film again in the north coast before the end of the year and in another boost for the local film industry, it has been reported that the Leslie Hill estate in Ballymoney will be the location for a film adaptation of the play ‘Stones in his Pockets’.

It will star singer Ronan Keating and Ballycastle actor Conleth Hill - who starred in the stage version - and filming will start next year.

The plot of ‘Stones in His Pockets’ follows Jake Quinn (Keating) and Charlie Conlon (Hill), who are employed as extras in a movie being shot in Kerry, when tragedy strikes the set.

Conleth Hill won an Olivier award for Best Actor in 2001 for his stage performance and the play enjoyed a successful run in Ireland, the West End and Broadway.
