Opening the two hour set with ‘It’s Friday’, appropriate, given that it actually was Friday, and Banbridge was certainly in the mood to party as the record crowd at the venue hit the dance floor, singing along and jiving the night away.

With fans of all ages having a blast, Derek belted out hit after hit and threw in plenty of well known cover songs that were appreciated by the crowd.

Rarely taking a break, his talented five piece band performing the odd number, the singer delivered an
impeccable vocal.

It is also clear to see why he is so popular amongst his fans, some of whom travel around the country to a variety of his shows, taking time whilst performing for ‘selfies’, sending out ‘shout outs’ and even performing the odd request.

With a set list including Belle of Liverpool, Hold on to Your Hat, Flowers in Your Hair, the wonderful God’s Plan, which was his debut single, as well as the beautiful Life is a River, fans were having
a great time.

The dancing and energy was kicked up another notch with the likes of Summer of ‘69, Don’t Stop Believing, Dance with me Tonight, Galway Girl and Derek’s latest single, Pick a Bale of Cotton.

With an Irish Medley which included Whiskey in the Jar, closely followed by a raucous version of Belle of Belfast City, the Bannville was
in full swing.

As the night came to an end there was clear disappointment in the room and fans didn’t hesitate to roar their approval when asked if they wanted more.

Returning for two more numbers, Derek performed 100 Numbers and finished the night with his version of Avicii’s Wake Me Up, which went down a storm.

With the night having rolled over into Saturday morning the star still took time to have photographs taken with fans and autograph cd’s, certainly going above and beyond the call of duty.

A fantastic show from a fantastic singer, it’s clear to see why Derek Ryan has become Ireland’s top country star.
