The seasonal programme will run from 1pm to 6pm as Santa Claus arrives to turn on the tree lights with help from the Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Cheryl Johnston.

There will be plenty of local groups showcasing their talent on stage throughout the day including festive walkabouts, face painting, magic shows and the chance to win great prizes.

There will also be a chance to toast your own marshmallows while Santa’s reindeer will make an appearance between 1pm and 3pm.

The annual civic carol service will take place at 4pm in the historic St Nicholas’ Church, followed by the official Christmas lights switch on at 5.30pm.

The fabulous fireworks finale will light up the skies around 5.45pm from Fisherman’s Quay (weather dependent).

The Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Cllr Cheryl Johnston said: “I am looking forward to such a fantastic festive event, it will be an honour to switch on the lights in my hometown of Carrickfergus.

“This special event draws in families from across our borough and with the local shops offering a range of ideal Christmas gifts, I’m inviting all our residents to ‘Find Your Christmas’ in Carrickfergus and Mid and East Antrim as a whole this festive season.”
