Fantastic turnout for Kilbride treasure hunt

The hunt, set by William Duddy, was well attended, with 28 cars leaving the church car park in the evening sunshine to travel around a scenic three-mile route. There were 22 clues for experienced hunters and 16 to be answered by novices.

Competitors returned to the hall at around 9.30pm to hand in papers to be marked and have a buffet supper of freshly baked scones, sandwiches, tray bakes and cream buns, served by the church catering committee.

There was also a fun quiz set by George Acheson which kept everyone busy while waiting for the treasure hunt results.

The overall hunt was won by experienced hunters Robert and Eileen McCullough and William Beatty, and they were presented with the William Hoy Memorial Trophy by Mrs Eileen Hoy.

The winners of the Novice section were William Smith and Jim Reid.

Proceeds from the event, which proved to be a great success, will go towards church funds.
