Fantastic victory for Juniors

BANBRIDGE have started their 2010/11 campaign with an epic encounter against Sunnyside. Although both sides started well it was Sunnyside who were able to convert their chances much better than Banbridge and raced away to a 4-0 leading the first half hour.

Just before half time Stephen McCavitt hit what looked like a hopeful long free kick but the bounce beat the keeper and Banbridge had a lifeline.

The second half was completely different with Banbridge showing great fighting spirit to immediately take control of the game.

After only five minutes Declan Loy made a break down the left and crossed to Andrew Martin who made no mistake from the edge of the 18 yard box.

Sunnyside responded again to make it 5-2. A few minutes later a lovely long ball from David Gray was controlled beautifully first time by Robert Colfer who almost in the same movement hit his shot from the right which dipped over the keeper to make it 5-3.

After some good interplay on the left with Declan Loy, Robert Colfer crossed the ball to Josh Buchanan who timed his left footed volley well in to the roof of the net.

Banbridge continued to press for the equaliser and got it when a loose ball came to Andrew Martin about 25 yards out and he let rip with his right foot to score his second goal of the day.

Just when it looked both teams were going to get a point Sunnyside sneaked a winner with only a couple of minutes to go.
