Farmer banned from keeping animals for five years

A SOUTH Derry farmer has been disqualified from keeping animals for five years.

Seamus Connery (58), Tirgan Road, Moneymore, was also given a Conditional Discharge for two years on a number of charges relating to causing unnecessary suffering to livestock and contravening animal by product regulations in respect to the disposal of carcasses in March last year.

Imposing the penalties, District Judge Des Perry described it as “a long running case”.

He also ordered defendant to pay £59 costs.
