Farmer is convicted
A Glenavy farmer has been convicted of charges that arose following a cattle inspection on his farm.
Gilbert Watson, of Lowtown Road was convicted on Tuesday on a charge of failing to notify the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the birth of 16 animals. He was also convicted of failing to notify the movement of 23 bovine animals off his holding.
He pleaded guilty and was fined £600 plus £22 costs and £15 offenders levy.
The case arose from discrepancies found at a cattle identification inspection carried out by Veterinary Service Enforcement Branch (VSEB).
