Farmers urged to sign up to dating event

Single farmers keen to dip their toes into the dating pool can also help a worthwhile cause in the process, namely the Southern Area Hospice.

The hospice is hosting a special fundraising event, ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’ which will see a group of single famers compete for the affections of the members of the audience to help raise funds for Southern Area Hospice Services.

‘Farmers Wants a Wife’ will take place in Armagh City Hotel on Friday, October 11.

Helping launch the event, members from Annaclone and Magherally Young Farmers Club dressed up in their wedding finery to promote the event which, over the course of the night, will see farmers interviewed on stage.

The stage interviews will give them the chance to ‘woo’ the potential wives in the audience with their wit, charm and farming expertise! The farmers will also be given the opportunity to showcase any party-tricks which they may possess.

The audience and judging panel, which includes farmer’s wife, blogger & author of ‘Would You Marry a Farmer’, Lorna Sixsmith, and President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster, Martyn Blair, will place their votes to determine who the winner is. If any of the ladies in the audience are blown away by the winning farmer they can bid in an auction to win a date with him. There will be music by Colorado Fever to end the night.All funds raised from this event will go to Southern Area Hospice Services to help us to continue our work helping people in the local community who are living with terminal illnesses. Southern Area Hospice Services have a fundraising target of £2.3million for 2013 and with over half the year already gone this still seems a long way off. Once free from their ‘bridal duties’, Annaclone and Magherally Young Farmers Club are holding a new members night on September 28 at 8.30pm in the club hall (Ballydown Rd. Banbridge). With many meetings planned for the year including ice skating, surfing and lots of competitions there is something for everyone.
