Farms open to the public

The Ulster Farmers’ Union has announced the names of the nine County Antrim farms taking part in this year’s Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend June 14-15, among them Glenwherry Hill Farm, Ballymena.

The initiative will see 22 farms across Northern Ireland open their gates to show the public how their food is produced and to demonstrate the health and diversity of the farming sector.

The nine participating County Antrim farms are Glenwherry Hill Farm (Ballymena), Glenarm Estate (Glenarm), Broughgammon Farm (Ballycastle), Laurelview (Templepatrick), Hollytree Farm (Templepatrick), Ballylagan Organic Farm (Straid), Hillstown Farm (Randalstown), Vowgarve Farm (Ballymoney) and Tynedale Farm (Ligoniel).

Barclay Bell, Deputy President of the UFU says the Open Farm Weekend “always presents a fantastic learning opportunity for young children to see how the food they eat is grown right here in their home county.”
