Constable Trevor Fletcher said: “A black Volkswagen Amarok, a silver Vauxhall Vectra and a red Volkswagen Golf were involved in the collision in which a man in his 50s died.

“I would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the Collin Road at around 7pm on the evening of Monday, May 2 and who may have witnessed this collision to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”

The crash was the latest in a series of tragedies and serious collisions on the rural road over recent years.

Local political representatives, who branded the Collin Road “dangerous” and “notorious for accidents”, have called for the introduction of safety improvements on the route, including a reduced speed limit and restrictions on overtaking.
