Feast of fashion set for Barry's

Roll up, roll up for a fabulous feast of fashion with stunning styles from top designers taking to the catwalk in what will be the biggest fashion event ever staged on the North Coast.

Cirque is the latest show undertaken by Coleraine stylist Cindy McKendry, and it comes hot on the heels of her amazing success with Symphonic which was held in the Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast.

Having used such an unusual location for Symphonic, Cindy wanted to ensure Cirque also had a location that would get people talking and she has certainly done that with the announcement that Barry’s will host the event on Thursday 1st September.

“I was delighted an surprised with the number of local people who came to support the event in Belfast and it made me very proud,” said Cindy. “I hadn’t planned on doing another event so soon but I was approached by (Councillor) Stephanie Quigley to help her with a show at home and how can you refuse Stephanie.

“I had always thought there was the potential to do a massive show here and I wanted a location that had never been used, somewhere completely unique and Barry’s Portrush was the obvious choice.

“Barry’s taps into everyone’s childhood and teenage years and most people across the Province have memories of the place and it has been like a friend to everyone at some time of their life.

“When we approached Kristina and Lisa Trufelli from Barry’s they loved the idea and so Cirque was born. There hasn’t been anything like this seen on the north coast before, it’s going to be massive. It’s not going to be anything like the traditional style fashion shows people have been to in the past, it takes things to a whole new level.

“There will be couture designers displaying on the night and we are very pleased to welcome Claire Garvery from Dublin. Claire is a fantastic and unique designer and she is going to showcase her autumn/winter collection. We also have Shauna Fay, Grainne Maher and Gordon Donaldson on board. Paul Stafford and his team will be doing the hair and five fantastic makeup artists, some who are local girls too, who are award winning and have also worked to top TV series and films.

“It’s going to be very different and the mood of the show and the people in it will make it quite spectacular.

We are supporting three very worthy charities - Women’s Aid, the Samaritans and the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children and the aim is to equally split the money raised from the sale of the tickets on the night.

I’m very proud to bring people to this area to see what we have to offer so its all very exciting.”
