Feedback is ‘positive’ over solar farm plans - firm

The event, which took place at Eden Primary School on February 12, saw representatives from Lightsource Renewable Energy brief local residents on the proposals for the 90-acre site at Dobbs estate.

Conor McGuigan, planning and development director at Lightsource, said: “The information evening is the first step in our consultation process and we will be using the feedback we received from the event to shape the final proposals for Dobbs estate. Overall, the comments were very positive and it was pleasing to see that many people recognise the wider benefits that solar energy can bring about.

“As well as generating clean energy, solar farms provide an ideal environment for habitat enhancements and we were very encouraged by the interest in the biodiversity and wildlife elements of the proposals.

“We are also very keen to hear suggestions about projects or organisations in the area that could benefit from our community fund. We believe that communities hosting major renewable energy developments should be recognised for their contribution to meeting the UK’s need for secure cleaner forms of energy.
