Fenagh Band in call for new members

A BALLYMENA accordion band is seeking help from local folk to keep it in existence.

Established over 50 years ago, Fenagh Accordion Band is in dire need of accordion players, drummers and a drum major.

The marching season is now over for 2011, making it the perfect time for the band to drum up new members for 2012.

A spokesman said: “We parade every year on the Twelfth Day and our practice is every Tuesday night from 8-9.30pm at the Fenagh Hall. Instruments will be provided for those interested and we can pick you up if you have no transport.

“So, whether you are a former player or a beginner please help us to keep the accordion band tradition in Ballymena.

“Unfortunately if things do not pick up we will have to call it a day and for those of us existing with the band that would be a really sad time. So, come and learn a really enjoyable instrument or give the drums a try, we really need your help”.
